“True Grit” Review

I saw the new “True Grit” this afternoon. It’s a great movie, already done.

This new remake by the Coen Brothers of Charles Portis‘ novel by the same name is a wonderful western. The landscapes and scenery is beautiful and has a very authentic feel. Jeff Bridges as Marshall ‘Rooster’ Cogburn is delicious and satisfying. A portrayal that exceeds the portrayal by John Wayne, who won an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1970 for this role. Despicably Spoiled

“Did you know the network was down?”

Yes, I was asked that question today. Moments after the lights came back on following a power outage.

The power was not out for long. But it was out long enough that everything was black. The gasps and groans from the crowd in the unlit lecture hall next to my office rose sharply and subsided to quick chatter about what was going on just as the power returned. The power might have been out for 20 seconds. Continue reading
